JTC Jewelry Design Studio In the Shop
Upon visiting JTC Jewelry Design one encounters a truly unique jewelry experience. In this small studio you can observe the many processes that are performed in the creation of a piece of jewelry.
The workshop is equipped to do a wide range of operations connected with jewelry manufacture, jewelry repair, and custom jewelry making. The specific operations undertaken here include custom design, wax model making, casting, diamond & stone setting, mold making, lapidary, forging, plating, and watch repair.
I have built and maintained an excellent reputation by providing my customers with prompt, top quality services at reasonable prices. All work is done on the premises.

MEET TIM CARTER
Tim Carter, 0wner, Goldsmith JTC Jewelry Design Studio
From an early age my roots were planted in the jewelry industry. My father was a watchmaker and my family owned and operated a small jewelry store. By age 10, I was waiting on customers, machine engraving, and performing minor jewelry repairs.
Fresh out of high school I enrolled into a full time, professional jewelry school and graduated from Bowman Technical Institution in Lancaster Pennsylvania. Afterwards, I returned to the family business to develop my skills.
After 8 years I broke away from the family business to further develop my knowledge and skills. Through following decades, I worked at various jewelry stores as a bench jeweler. Also, during this process, I was employed by Kirk-Stieff in Baltimore, where I learned professional jewelry manufacture, casting, and mold making. I further trained in New York capturing techniques from some of the industry’s best stone setters.
In time I opened my own professional jewelry shop in Towson. After forty years I have developed a deep understanding of jewelry making, jewelry design, and of the creative process involved. I freely share my knowledge with my customers.

My now husband and I started looking at rings online, and considered going to a mall and looking at rings that are mass produced and molded when we found Tim. It was life changing to be able to work with a custom jeweler one on one and build a relationship and build a ring together with my partner. Tim put so much love and care into designing the ring, picking the perfect stones and placement, consulting my husband every step of the way, and I never imagined we could have a custom piece done so quickly!! My ring is absolutely stunning and I have since been back to the shop and fallen in love and purchased another necklace that he made!
